The HorseCare app now allows you to accompany training sessions with video recordings using a mobile device.
We have expanded the system’s functionality by adding video recording directly into the app. This is not just an additional feature, but part of the HorseCare project, enabling a deeper level of training analysis and data-driven management. Even if you are already familiar with this feature, it is now fully integrated into the system and deserves renewed attention.
The new functionality allows you to record training sessions on video and automatically synchronize them with sensor data. As a result, you gain not only numerical insights but also visual confirmation of every movement, deviation, and change in your horse’s performance.
The video works in a multi-segment format: within a single training session, you can record multiple separate fragments, each precisely linked to the training timeline.
⚙️ How it works:
— the feature is enabled in the app settings (with storage location selection, including SD card support for Android devices)
— once activated, a camera preview appears on the main screen
— during training, recording controls (start/stop) and zoom are available
— each segment is marked with a recording indicator
— you can record an unlimited number of video fragments per session
— all videos are automatically synchronized with the timeline
📊 After the training session:
— the number of recorded segments is displayed in the training list
— each fragment is available for playback
— videos are saved to the device and can be accessed outside the app
ℹ️ Important:
Long video recordings may result in large data volumes. As a consequence, the time required to upload training data to the back office may increase proportionally to the duration of video recording. We recommend uploading sessions while connected to a stable WiFi network.
The recorded video is synchronized with the dataset, allowing you to analyze the training from two perspectives:
— from the inside — using data and analytical tools
— from the outside — by reviewing the video
Key considerations:
During recording, the mobile device is operated by an observer, not the rider. The training session is started externally, while data collection continues as usual and is later uploaded to the system.
You can record any number of video fragments, but keep in mind that videos are stored on the device and then uploaded to the back office. Using WiFi is strongly recommended, as mobile data may significantly slow down the upload process.
Video editing (trimming the beginning and end of fragments) is available: on iPhone — after upload; on Android — immediately after recording.
Horse movement tracking in this mode is currently based on ML (not GPS), so accuracy may be limited. Improvements are in progress.
A slight desynchronization between video and animation (e.g., during jumps) may occur due to different recording frequencies: video at 30 fps vs. sensor data up to 200 Hz. We are actively working to improve synchronization accuracy.
Video can also be recorded in landscape mode. However, the mobile device must be rotated before starting the training session. Once recording has started, screen orientation is locked.
The integration of video and analytics marks a transition from subjective assessment to precise training management.
Try the multi-video recording mode in your next training session and experience the full capabilities of the system.
