He isn’t lame. He just isn’t quite right.

That feeling usually has a cause, and the cause can be measured. Movement analysis compares each leg with your horse’s own normal and gives you the difference as a number.

45 seconds: what the feeling looks like when it is measured.

If any of this sounds familiar

  • You feel something underneath you, and then he trots up sound.
  • You ask three people and you get three answers.
  • You don’t want to call the vet out over a feeling.

You are not imagining it, and you are not alone in failing to see it. This is the part HorseCare measures for you.

of horses whose riders believed they were working comfortably were found to be lame, across three studies in Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.Horse & Hound, on Sue Dyson’s research

Am I imagining it?

Your horse is compared with himself, not with an average horse. A change becomes a figure you can point at.

Which leg is he sparing?

Every leg gets its own deviation percentage for each gait, so the uneven side shows up on its own.

Is it him, or is it me?

Your vertical movement is measured against his back, in centimetres and milliseconds. If the imbalance follows you, you will see that too.

Send the session before the lesson. Your trainer looks at the same stride you did, so you start from what happened instead of from how it felt.
